　　胸前硕大的“S”标志、性感的红色底裤外穿的健硕男--“超人”(布兰登·鲁斯)，当年在维护地球和平、保护人类安宁的战斗中奉献出了无比的力量。然而，这位来自遥远的氪星球的孤胆英雄却一心想回到深邃宇宙中的家乡去寻根。以“闭关修炼”一段时间。而且，此时的地球也有了暂时的安宁。短时间内不需要超人的照料。于是，这位《星球日报》的年轻记者便偷偷地离开了地球，前往氪星寻根溯源。

　　对于在星际间游走的超人来说，此一趟返乡之旅仅是短短的一段时间。在渺小的地球生命面前却是漫长的十数年之后。当超人“神秘消失”后重返地球之际，这个曾经伴随他成长并留有许多美好记忆的地方却发生了莫大的变化：首先，在过去的漫长岁月里，人们已经渐渐习惯了没有超人保护和陪伴的生活了，人们发现没有这位超级英雄的生活也同样可以过的很好，超人一下子失去了自己的位置；其次，更令超人心痛的是，他多年来一直默默钟情的漂亮女同事路易丝·莱恩(凯特·伯斯沃斯)已经为人妻为人母了；最后，也是对他的生存产生极大威胁的，曾经被超人击败的死对头莱克斯·卢瑟(凯文·史派西)在恢复之后在召集着手下邪恶的党羽，酝酿着新的阴谋……
